Project Description

Navigation is a ubiquitous activity that closely relies on our eyesight. Without vision, it is difficult to read signs, capture layout features and detect obstacles that pose potential dangers in way-finding. At least 2.2 billion people worldwide have a near or distance vision impairment(WHO,2022), and it affects people of all ages. For many of these people, navigating new spaces can be a frustrating experience when they can not access visual signs.

Wonder Vision is a hybrid system that combines AI-powered image recognition and a conversational interface to navigate visually impaired people. It utilizes the augmented visualization that anchors on the target to calculate the distance between virtual content and the user's location. Additionally, by combing this capability with audible cues and a voice interface, users will be able to talk to the system and hear signage information in multiple ways.
