Project Description

Game therapy, as an emerging mental health intervention, leverages the interactivity and immersion of games to help players alleviate anxiety, depression, and other emotional issues, promoting overall mental well-being. This study explores how design elements in a narrative-driven exploration game, ‘Afterclass Moment', can assist players in reducing anxiety. In the game, players enter a virtual world filled with intricate stories and a healing environment. Through interacting with the surroundings and objects, unlocking story clues, and engaging in emotionally resonant experiences, players gradually uncover the hidden narrative within the game world. The game incorporates nostalgic elements, with a design that features a calm pace and meditation-like scenes to help players enter a relaxed state, effectively alleviating anxiety. Through its warm visual style and immersive sound design, the game provides players with a soothing virtual space for relaxation.

This research offers valuable references for future innovations in therapeutic game design, contributing to the advancement of game-based mental health interventions.
