TCKConnect
meaningful connection through shared experiences
Rutooja Khamkar
Project Description
TCKConnect explores the unique challenges of belonging and identity faced by Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs) - individuals who spent their formative years in cultures different from their parents' passport culture. Through a user-centered design approach, this thesis designs a prototype for a geolocation-based mobile platform that bridges the gap between digital connectivity and meaningful in-person connections. Using the Double Diamond methodology, the research integrates extensive user testing and literature review to create a solution that addresses the specific needs of the ATCK community.
Central to this work is the recognition that while ATCKs often struggle with traditional concepts of belonging, they find meaningful connection through shared experiences with others of similar background. TCKConnect transforms this insight into a practical tool, moving beyond existing social platforms. The project contributes to both academic discourse on ATCKs and advances the field of UX/UI design by demonstrating how digital platforms can address nuanced human challenges of identity and belonging.
